Thanks for your replies everyone. I think I am going to go with the GA3 for now from Guitar Rodeo and then after a year use their trade-up program to get the GS8.

I purchased a GA3 from Jim about 3 months ago with the intention of trading up after a year, and while I may very well get another guitar in the future. I will never trade or sell this GA3. It is a truly magical instrument. I hope you enjoy your GA3 as much as I enjoy mine.

Good choice! I'm thinking about trading my BBT up to a GA3 in a few months. They are really sweet guitars!

As for the 312, a Grand Concert body is the smallest acoustic/electric body that Taylor makes. That size body is typically the quietest of all of them.

Even if you have to drive a bit to get to them, I'd do it. Try them out. Buy the one that speaks to you.
You hit the nail on the head. I wouldn't consider the 314 a fingerpicking guitar. I flatpick mine and strum hard a lot and it still sounds great. Plenty of bass, great midrange and balanced highs. It's the most versatile of all the Taylors. I would buy the 314 over the 310. The 310 is bassier and boomier, but I like that the 314 responds better with light strings. The 310 with lights would sound sort of jangly. I have tried that experiment a few times.

If I had bought a GS8, I would NOT have kept it. A GS7, I would keep, but I thought the GS8 was EXTREMELY boomy, but not warm and was lacking midrange. It was terrible for heavy strumming and flatpicking. I would rather have a 314 over a GS8. I liked the GS7 better, but if you could have cocobolo instead of the EIR, even better.
