Thoughts on Regal RD 30VS

Pickup up my first square neck dobro...A Regal RD 30-VS. I didn't want to break the bank as I am just learning. Any thoughts on it? I don't have any sound comparisons but it wasn't as loud as I hoped it would be. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it louder? Change out the saddle? different cone? Any suggestions on what to get? I paid $257 on Amazon....Would like to keep it under $300.

There is a thread somewhere on this forum by a guy who filed down a cheap resonator to make it sound better. You might wanna check that thread out.
