I ceased posting what I use. This is mainly because of the warnings I received as to how I was destroying my guitars…which has never happened in all these years

The only exception is the occasional use of a fretboard conditioner.

Full-strength dihydrogen monoxide, lightly applied to a soft cotton cloth and wiped off immediately - I never let my instruments get that filthy to begin with...

Dunlop 65 for me. Used it for years all my instruments. No problems whatsoever and it does a good job.

When a damp cloth is not enough, I use ColorTone ‘Clean and Shine’ from StewMac. ‘Safe for all finishes, no silicone.’ They have a ‘fretboard cleaner,’ like lemon oil, I use for fretboard and bridge.

I use microfiber cloth with little water to clean the guitar. Dr ducks axe wax for fretboard.

I also use Virtuoso cleaner and polish, although I use it sparingly. Works great and is easy on the finish.

AW MAN. Now that you posted this you have put the rest of us in a position where we have to make a mandatory report to the Department Of Guitar Social Services.

I'm in the water and soft cloth camp, perhaps a drop of soap it it's been a sweaty night. Virtuoso on occasion on my nitro finish guitars if needed where my arm makes contact.

Apart from an occasional wipe (with nothing), I think the only time I really clean a guitar is just before I sell it!

The only chemical that touches my guitar is dihydrogen monoxide.
