Default First Video of me playing (Cover of Summertime)

So I decided to go through the process of videoing me playing "live style".

I literally set this up and shot the video and recorded in one pass (no do overs for better or worse ) just to get through the entire process .
So here is my version of Gershwin's Summertime that I play live . Complete with forgotten lyrics and a few 1/2 picked notes, the bare studs and door open behind me, and quirky mouth movements and head bobs ....oh well . I will at some point redo it.

Well, that was fun, Kevin! Nice recording and you sounded very good! I play a version of "Summertime," but yours is way different and very nice to hear as a different take on this great song.

I liked your red curtains at the front and back of the video.

I must say that I liked how you positioned yourself relative to the large diaphragm condenser (LDC) mic so it was not blocking your mouth and your face. I have found in my own recordings that with a good quality LDC mic I did not need to be singing straight into the mic but could have it mounted over at an angle. Not only does this location avoid blocking the face but you also don't need a pop filter that way. No pop filter keeps things simpler and cleaner looking.

Very nice job!

- Glenn

Excellent first video Kevin. I liked the arrangement. A touch Van the man's Moondance in the chords at times.

Hey thanks much people .

Glen, thanks and yes I should note I think that in fact my "by ear and memory" version is probably not quite completely correct to the original (It's just how remeber it) . And recording wise there is also an SDC cropped just off scene that is contributing to the sound.

That's great, Kev... I enjoyed it. One of my favorite tunes. I also heard that resemblance to "Moondance" in there. Nice job.

Kev, if you revisit, "Moondance," be sure to post it for us. That's another great tune.
