Default Strings for an Emerald X20

I usually use Elixir PB nanos 12-53 or HD on My Taylor. Has Anybody tried 11s on an x20 and how is the volume and sustain?

I might try 11s sometime. Currently I have GHS core lights (12s) on with the X20 tuned down a 1/2 step. These strings are great. I think I could probably drop another half step without too much floppiness, so 11s would probably work in regular tuning and probably even with a dropped D tuning.

PS If you don't want to invest in yourself, why should anyone else even bother to try?

I believe, from the factory,
Emerald installs D'Addario EXP26 .011-.052 on the X20.

We use Daddario EXP11 on the X20 which are 12-53 You can see the full specs here http://www.daddario.com/DADProductDe...__Light__12_53
You can definitely get away with dropping down to a lighter gauge but you may find depending on your playing style that you may need to add some relief to the neck to allow for the wider vibrational arc of the lighter strings.
I suggest trying a set and see how you like them.
Also just to clarify that EXP11 doesnt mean .011 gauge . It can be a little confusing that the EXP11 set is actually 12's
