Videos: The Making of a Composite Acoustic Guitar
I found these videos to be very informative, and the little "wood and carbon" skits interspersed throughout are delightful! Enjoy,

Thanks Ed. I still have three original CA Guitars Cargos. They are very comfortable and easy to play, and I can just leave them laying around the condo, always ready to pick up and play.

Thanks for posting, Ed. As with the videos Ted posted, I hadn't seen these ones either. Quite the processes, great insight. The video shows the painted-on wood grain models and I wasn't fussy about it back then. Compared to the real wood veneer applications Emerald is doing, the CA approach just looked so fake. Tha said, CA guitars are wonderful. I love my '08 Cargo, and kinda miss my '08 GXi (sold it to help fund my Emerald Chimaera 6/12 doubleneck...no regrets though).

Interesting to see the old videos, especially the wood grain model. Not sure how popular the wood grains were though, because I have only seen 2 over all the years CA has been around and I own them both. Personally I like the painted woodgrain better than veneer, but to each his own. Everyone who sees or plays mine is amazed to hear they are not wood instruments.

Thanks for the comments all.
I am not in the least bit tempted by a "wood grain finish" on a CF guitar. I figure if you're going CF, you might as well go "all in!" However, I am torn between the CA Raw vs. Gloss finish...I find myself fluctuating wildly in my preference between the two. Compounding this is the fact that pro photos of guitars with the RAW can appear quite different.

Ted, that's fascinating that the two different finishes provide slightly different tone. How would you describe the differences? (I haven't noticed any difference in videos, but of course...that's in videos. )

The gloss finish is obviously thicker than no finish, so you get a slightly muted/warmer tone, while the RAW models are a bit more responsive, and a bit brighter. The difference is subtle enough that there is no harm in choosing based on esthetics.

Thanks for your insights Ted. Though I understand that the difference is subtle, which of these two tonal profiles do you believe best compliments the OX model?

I find most folks prefer the RAW version.
