I get that. I am a boat captain (mostly retired, when my wife doesn't feel the need to "be productive"); our home (when we get there) is on the water in south Texas. When my wife saw the SG-FLE Shorty with the sharks, she said, "You have to get that one!"

I'll be interested to hear your impressions when your new guitar arrives!

Great question! No, they come with 80/20's shipped

http://www.rainsong.com/care.html

Note* I Googled the Elixir 11052 code and verified that they are 80/20s because I too wanted to hear the answer to that question.

They come with 80/20 Elixirs.

I thought the 80/20 Elixirs were a bit shrill and tinny.

Tried EXP PB and while it was fuller sounding, I thought they were a bit dark (also quieter)

My Shorty is now wearing PB Elixirs. I still dislike the way Elixirs shred their coating though.

You'll not regret buying it..

I have quite a few guitars, but if anyone asks me what I play, I tell them I play a Rainsong. My OM1000 N1 is my default guitar to take with me when performing, and although I will take a custom OM I had made with me for a few DADGAD tunes, and more recently, a Baritone Alvarez for a few songs, my guitar is my Rainsong.

For the record, I love the sharks and abalone. I also love the LR Baggs Element electrics I got with it, but I think they only do Fishmann now? (Ditto the thin neck?)

I ordered mine yesterday. I have 6 weeks ahead of me.

I guess it's better than 5 months for a new Emerald.

You've GOTTA try the new Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronzes on it; something about their sparkle sounds MADE for a carbon axe.

Overtones like angels, growls like Harleys. LOVING 'em!

You are the first guy I have heard make that suggestion. I did try them on my stika/rw Breedlove but didn't really dig them. Maybe it is just because the alloys sound too weird and modern to my ears conditioned to everything traditional.

Carbon is loud and bright and I would think that Ernie Ball AB strings would just amplify those qualities? I'm trying to find a string that mellows out my RainSong a bit, not add to it's boldness.

All about what you're going for. If you want to mellow it, those prob. aren't the strings. If you want to turn it into a chorus, best I've found.

One thing they do though is accentuate the plasticy-echo of RS when hit w/ pick; so they're esp. ideal for fingers if you pick w/ your pads instead of nails.

Also great if you use a wood pick or a smooth edge, just something that isn't too plinky.

Things really come alive for me on those strings. Just my style.

Now I'm hoping the storm heading toward Florida doesn't interrupt my Tuesday delivery date! Supposed to be a hurricane by Monday as it sweep north along the east coast of Florida.

Fingers crossed for you. But if it does get delayed, at least it isn't a wood guitar sitting in a hot truck or warehouse somewhere. The benefits of CF....
