CA Cargo RAW Now $1599
Just noticed that Peavey has raised the price of the Cargo as I predicted they would need to back in 2010, so I'm wondering if the new price has kept folks away. Do you guys think a CA Cargo RAW is worth $1599?

Nope. Not even close IMO.

That's double their original price, I believe.
For me, there are other options now that are far more attractive for less. I'm sure there will be buyers who love the Cargo's unique sound--but it's not me--not at that price. Maybe that's the MAP price? What is the street price?? |

I think it has passed the value proposition to overpriced on the Cargo...I think the Journey Overhead has lapped the Cargo as a travel guitar. Lower cost, better size and electronics,

Nope.
At that price I'm right at the price of a Rainsong Parlor more or less.

Quote:
A Rainsong Parlor is worth $2000 a lot more than a CA Cargo is worth $1600. If I were in the market I would have no trouble justifying the additional $400. |

It kept me away. I was interested in the Cargo. However, I opted for a used Emerald X-7 Artisan for far less.

Way more money than I'm likely to have anytime soon regardless of whether it's "worth it" or not. With that pricing, it puts Journey firmly in front of a Cargo as far as possible purchases go. And if I did somehow scrounge up that much mula I'd be more interested in one of the new Rainsong Smokeys.

One more "nope" here. I'm glad we bought our gloss blue Cargo last year for $1250, taxes included. This price is definitely overlapping into the Rainsong Shorty, Rainsong Parlor or even Blackbird Lucky 13 territory now.
The Cargo is a nice guitar for travel and for petite players. I get that they are a business and have to charge enough to at least break even, but there comes a point where it won't sell. And we might be there now..... IMO |

CA Cargo RAW Now $1599
Nope, and I have one less than a month old. I was disappointed to see the price go to $1399 from $999, but I found one at $999. It's a nice guitar and I like it a lot so far, but I'm not an especially good player. $1599 is out of range of what I was willing to pay, period.

I'd have to agree witht the comments regarding Journey, Emerald X7 & X5, the Rainsong Parlor. Each of these, in their own way, now provide a better value over the Cargo.
The Cargo is still a unique guitar with it's own sound and some may prefer it enough to pay the premium. Time will tell. For those who have Cargos and love them, you've got to feel good that your guitar has just appreciated in value. You can resell it for more than you paid, if you are so inclined to sell. At the higher prices, you might need to baby it more also--it's become an investment outpacing inflation! |

$1,599.00 Suggested?
What will the street price be? cause there is no way an educated guitar consumer would go for that.

I have played a number of CA guitars in the past few weeks including the cargo. sounds cool and for the price it would be acceptable, except for the fact the CA does not come with an adjustable truss rod. That is a deal breaker for me.
I like a very little relief.

I got mine for $999 a year and a half ago. I love the instrument and it serves a very valuable purpose for me. But there is NO WAY I would pay $1600 for it. I think that is an absurd price. If mine gets run over by a truck, I'll find something else.

+1 - The Emerald is better made, has a beautiful finish and in my opinion better tone and projection for a similar sized guitar.
