Default Favorite Commedian - Living or Dead

Who is your favorite comedian? Simple question. No political inference or politics wanted. If you don't like someone because of their political stance, or personal grooming habits, just post your favorite comedian. There are universally adored comedians and I love them too but being in the entertainment business, especially in Los Angeles, I have met and worked with dozens and dozens of comedians. Some I like personally some I detest personally but think their comedy is crazy funny. Many uniquely funny comedians are broken individuals and I will not judge their personal predilections here, only comedy. Try to pick one. I'll start it off. Mitch Hedberg. Crazy funny. If you get a chance, check out some of his work on YouTube.

Additionally comedy, like music, needs to be experienced live. If you have never been to a comedy club, that is the place to see comedy. Watching a professional comedian work without wires, back up equipment, cool lighting, musicians and background vocals, is phenomenal.

There are so many good comedians, I can't say that I have a favorite. I like Jeff Jefferies these days. I also like John Wing. I enjoy both the family oriented delivery and the plain old raunchy. All good if it's funny. My wife and I like to go to local comedy clubs on occasion, we have attended the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal some years ago, and like to watch standup on the comedy networks. Really enjoy the Just For Laughs standup episodes.

Pretty hard to watch Caddyshack or any of his taped live performances and not agree.....

Richard Prior was one of the all time greatest stand ups. IMO.

I really like a few living Brit ones that probably wouldn't travel well, like Jimmy Carr, Lee Mack, Tim Vine and Sean Lock.

(I know a lot of other Brits hate some of those, that's the funny thing about comedy)

Too many favorites to name just one.
These stand out for me:
Film: Woody Allen, Peter Sellers, Monty Python, Bill Murray
Stand-up: George Carlin
Worth a mention: John Belushi

GREAT choices all. Montreal is such a great city and it has some of the premier comedy showcases anywhere. Jeff Jeffries is hysterical.

Always liked John Candy. And speaking of John, Steve Martin as well. Nice clean comedy.
