Before it hits the United States, it will impact thousands of other people many of whom will be far less protected or prepared. I'm praying for them, too.

If she maintains this, Andrew would look like a child. She's far bigger and, right now, stronger:

180 mph and once that dark red ring wraps around the eye, she'll get stronger.

It's absolutely scary. Those poor islands are going to be destroyed.

For some reason this thing really seems extra scary. Praying that some type of force will send it north and out into the middle of the ocean.

Once they start looking like a circular saw blade, look out....
Ideally it would "skirt or skid along" enough land masses from those islands in its forward movement without catastrophically impacting any of them. That might be enough to shear off that shape some before it gets close to FL.
That's best case scenario though, and asking for a lot. Right now, its tract is to remain over very warm waters. Not good.

I guess evacuations are getting under way, but since there are still about 50 different possible tracks, I don't know how anyone knows who should evacuate or where they should evacuate to. Short of having everyone in Florida go to Minnesota, I don't know what the recommendation would be.

I live in South Florida and one of the latest model runs has it STRONGER than it is now right over Ft. Lauderdale. Here it is now:

Everyone I know is trying to figure out exactly what to do... as am I.

Much of that special thing depends on where you live .
Should you live in North Dakota , hurricane season is pretty much the same every year .
There is another constant to consider , human stupidity , when it comes to hurricanes .

Seems to get worse almost by the hour. I've been in touch with friends near Ft. Lauderdale. I hope they leave.

Latest forecast at 5PM, Tuesday predicting a hit on the West coast of Florida likely as a Cat 4 or 5. Probably a good idea to get out of Dodge if possible. I wish everyone luck.

I wonder if and when they will start mando evacuations. Checked in with my folks and there is no water nor wood in South Florida. They are sold out everywhere.

Thanx Nole!

We've begun pre-staging items to load into the bug out trailer today if we should have to leave.
We also added to our provisions if we should stay.

It's not clear which is the most prudent at this point. The direction the storm takes will dictate which direction chitz & gang will go.

We will decide on Friday. If we leave, we'll be going north on I-65 towards Montgomery.
