Here's closing lyrics from an oldie from back in the date....
Who knew it would be so prophetic? But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud For man's been endowed with a mushroom-shaped cloud And we know for certain that some lovely day Someone will set the spark off And we will all be blown away!! They're rioting in Africa There's strife in Iran What nature doesn't so to us Will be done by our fellow man Tom Lehrer- 1958? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8-BI89mb9A

Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
Rode on the steel breeze. Come on you raver, you seer of visions, Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Mine is an instrumental line (at 19:00 in this video), but this whole performance is simply amazing (poor audio quality, notwithstanding).
The vocal lines starting around the 18:00 mark always gave me goosebumps, too.

Sting's back!
When the world's gone crazy and it makes no sense
There's only one voice that comes to your defense The jury's out and your eyes search the room And one friendly face is all you need to see If there's one guy, just one guy Who'd lay down his life for you and die It's hard to say it I hate to say it, but it's probably me

A couple of weeks ago I was driving to work and listening to Outlaw Country on Sirius. "I think I'm gonna go out and buy me a sheep" was the last line of a song I heard. I don't know what happened in the song to make him close out that way.

Not necessarily my favorite, but this line stuck with me from the end of a love song named "Flowers" by a band called Cross-Canadian Ragweed.

I've been working on a version of this one (going "live" at an open mic this week):
You load sixteen tons and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store Sixteen Tons - written by Merle Travis - first recorded by Tennessee Ernie Ford

Once I had a Downey Swan, she was so very frail
She sat upon an oyster shell and hatched me out a snail The snail, it turned into a bird, the bird to butter fly And he who tells a bigger tale, would have to tell a lie Sing terry-o day, sing Autumn to May Peter, Paul and Mary So the hangin day came round and he walked up to the noose I pulled the lever, but before he fell I cut him loose They called it all conspiracy and that I had to die So to close our mouths and kill our minds they hung us side by side And now we're two hangmen hangin from a tree That don't bother me at all. Mason Proffit I know Quite a difference. But I like them. Both in my set list
