Default Emerald X20 Opus

Hi,

Last week, I bit the bullet, pulled the trigger and ordered an Emerald X20 Opus.
Red gloss, crystal ice finish, satin finish neck, upgraded tuners (Gotoh 510s), gig bag. Lead time 4 months, the build will begin in 2 months. Sean was extremely helpful. The wait has begun...

For aeons, I had an exclusive interest in traditional guitars (wood). I (almost) hated Ovations when they were available in the early 80's. Two months ago I bought a carbon travel guitar (Journey OF660) and was amazed by the light weight, ease of playing (the bevels) and sound (the soundport). Then I looked further and started to put out ads for some of my traditional guitars...

Welcome to the AGF, Ed! Congrats on choosing what is widely viewed here as a great guitar. You describe your order as an "Opus" which for some time now, Emerald has promoted as off-the-shelf, almost no waiting, available only in black with gloss top and crystal ice b&s, and with default tuners. Not that it matters.....but it seems that just because you have opted for the crystal ice b&s finish, the changes you've requested and wait time suggests it is actually a custom order "Artisan". Regardless, it will be a great guitar. Enjoy the wait!

Welcome to the gang Ed. !

Great choice of guitar !

Ps. I agree with Tom (above) that what you are getting is essentially an Artisan.

If you got that combo for Opus price then I must congratulate you on having more BLARNEY than those Irish lads.

Selecting an Emerald X20 was a wise choice, you'll be thrilled, it's one of the best guitars out there.

Congrats, Ed, and welcome to the forum! The X20 is an outstanding guitar: rich and full sounding, comfortable to hold and play, and a delight to the eyes. Hope the wait passes quickly for you. Keep us posted.

Ed;

You have good taste. The Journey is a great travel guitar and the Emerald is a marvelous sounding and looking guitar. Congratulations on a fine pair of instruments.

If you play with any Spanish guitarists, it would be interesting to hear what they think of your CF instruments.

Well, we know at least one Spaniard who loves CF guitars...though he hasn't been around here for a while...Martin Blanes.

While I'm waiting for the Emerald, I'm enjoying my Journey OF660 and so is my cat...
