The body of the guitar is back in Texas. Here is a picture of the top. The silking looks fantastic with the finish IMO of course. I also like the way the rosette darkened and the grain popped. The purfling looks really good to me too. I guess I like it.

As an aside, Ryan was unable to get a picture of the back because the finish is so perfect he could not deal with the glare, but assures me the back looks great also. I guess I have to trust him haha...

Not sure why the picture came out so small....

Bigger picture of the finish on the top:

Steve cutting the headstock inlay, he went with silver here to match the luckenbooth inlay:

And the aforementioned inlay as it will appear on the headstock:

That top is lookin' real nice. Some serious silking! And the rosette looks awesome.

I like the silver "K" as well. Very nice!

Many thanks for the kind words. Between this guitar, Dennis' guitar, and the clumsy post office, our art department has put in some real overtime.
They'll be demanding raises before you know it...

In case any of you are wondering about any current updates to this build, the body is back from the finishers and Steve is finishing the neck in a satin finish for me. I believe it has all of it's material on it now and it is hanging to gas off I guess it is called. The inlays are all done and once it has sat a week or two, it will meet the body and become a guitar. The bridge is made and ready to go so it should not be too long although these last few weeks seemed to have dragged by.

Hate to do this at these late stages but we have reached the 300 post threshold and must close.

Chapter 2 can be found here.
