Guild GAD M20 vs Martin 000RS1 opinions
My son really loves my 1962 Guild M20 and his other fave after that is my vintage Martin 000-28. He likes the smaller bodies, as do I. But he is a college student and I want to help him find a much less expensive guitar that captures the tonal characters of the M20. I don't know much about the GAD series fro Guild but that they are an offshore version. I recently was also looking at the Martin 000RS1. I am looking to possibly find a used model before he heads back to school this fall.
Does anyone have some insights on one or both of them models? • Guild GAD M20 • Martin 000RS1 Thanks! |

Alvarez Masterworks series would be a good option too. Solid African hog with a semi-gloss finish. They are around 600+/-.

I've tried them both. Both are great quality at a reasonable price. I preferred the sound of the Guild myself. The base on the Martin I played was a little muddy. Could have been the strings but I'm not sure. Either way you can't go wrong.

The GAD series was a pretty good guitar for the money.
Guild just came out with the NEW version of their off shore line called "The Westerly Collection" http://guildguitars.com/guitars/acou...ly-collection/ The prices are very competitive and they even have arch backed models. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/sear...erly&Go=Search
