El McMeen Signature Model Franklin Guitar

I hope it is not improper to announce this here, but I am delighted to report that I am working with the brilliant luthier Nick Kukich of the Franklin Guitar Company (www.franklinguitarcompany.com) on an "El McMeen Signature Model" Franklin guitar! I have played Franklins for over 25 years, and have recorded with them (including my first studio album for Shanachie Entertainment in 1991, called "Of Soul and Spirit"). Franklins have a unique singing sweetness about them in rendering the lyrical music I like, as well as punch and power in country blues, jazz and other types of music (exemplified by the wonderful playing of my friends Stefan Grossman and Woody Mann). I was very honored and humbled by Nick's enthusiasm for this project, which I share.

The body size will be OM, and the back and sides will be sustainable wood - Koa, from Hawaii. Different levels of flame on the back Koa will be available. The top wood will be European spruce, and the appointments will be classic and subtle. Nick is designing the inlay on the fretboard (or guitarists may decide to have a plain fretboard if that is their desire).
