Are These Lyrics Discernable?
Alfred & Omega
I've been having a tough time mixing this one. A producer friend, who's been mastering my current project, did a severe EQ on the original mix, mostly because the guitar part was obscuring the lyric (from his perspective). The vocal/lyric seemed sufficiently up front to me, but I already know the lyric and therefore lack objectivity. That's why I'm soliciting responses from folks who probably haven't heard the song before. I'd be very grateful to find out if the lyrics are coming across for folks who haven't heard the song before. I should mention that "Alfred & Omega" was written by Lee Domann, Doak Snead and Kelley Sallee-Snead. Lee has a YouTube video out, for those curious as to how the song should be performed. (It segues out of another song.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjOjdsNrhpU Thanks, in advance, for any help. Gary Last edited by guitaniac; 03-10-2009 at 04:51 PM. |

Update:
I got some feedback from three people on another forum. They all advised me that the lyrics were discernable but that the guitar accompaniment was pretty ragged (timing sucked). I've since come up with a smoother performance (a change of guitar may have helped) and replaced the original recording. In any event, I was happy to learn that the lyrics were discernable in my remix. Now I can focus more attention on the other problem areas. Gary |

Yep, I followed the lyrics easily! The mix is fine, IMHO.
