Guitar Duel - Les Paul vs Strat - who wins??
Here is a cool video made by a really great guitarist..Sam Coulson trading licks with himself..
I'm biased but I pick the Strat on this one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibonH3lA66U

cool video...but it's comparing apples and oranges, really, if we think of it as a competition.

This is a perfect example of why you should have at least one of each.

I am going to disagree here and say that with all of that distortion, they really do not sound that different from one another. In my opinion, the more fuzz there is, the less the distinction. Play 'em clean and the tonal differences are clear. Just my opinion here...

With all of the gain cranked into the amp, there's a minimal difference in tone. The Strat is slightly brighter, but not enough to write home about. The only major difference I heard between the two was that the Strat leads had a few tremolo tricks thrown in that couldn't be duplicated on the Les Paul

I'll take either one. Slightly more treble on the Strat, but I think they both did well in this demo. It would be interesting to hear the clean sound form the two. I have always enjoyed Gibsons, but would accept a Strat...
