I guess I am like Dirk H. I have three nice watches but I never wear them anymore since getting an iPhone

I may look into an apple watch mainly to replace my broken FitBit to track Heart rate while cycling

Nothing fancy, Casio Wave Ceptor. It updates the time every night from WWV, the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) HF ("shortwave") radio station.

Haven't worn a watch since I smashed the crystal on my Seiko self-wind while sailing a Sunfish off Pilgrim beach on Cape Cod in 1992.

The Apple Watch has been a super tool to help with my work, fitness, and sports performance.

The not thinking it's reliable or durable are especially puzzling. They're sports and work tools that take a beating by many I know and millions of others. I wish a whole lot of sports electronics I've owned in the past were as reliable. It's held up to salt water use in addition to the jarring use and dirt from trail building and MTB riding.

I just didn’t feel I used it to it’s potential for the price. I just got to thinking how it might be good for what, 5 years before an upgrade may be needed? It’s an electronic and eventually they become obsolete. For $130 I bought two watches that should last much much longer.

Just me. I loved it for a while, but I just always babied it and got tired of it.

I passed on getting the newest Apple Watch, and purchased a Garmin Fenix 5x. It’s big, but filled with features that make it the ultimate sports watch. The battery life is fantastic. While I had to make sure to charge my first gen Apple Watch every night, the Fenix 5x lasts for 10 days or so, including a few weekly runs.

Default Seiko 5

I like my Seiko 5 auto-winder. Got it last year on Amazon- can't buy these in the US. Feel the same about Apple watch wearers- you already have a smart phone so what does an Apple Watch buy you? They don' sell many of them from I ascertain...great to have a watch at gigs so I can glance for set times instead of leaning over to hit my iPhone...

I'm really wanting one of those, but I guess I just need to really do more research. Just not sure what all it does!

Watches are a little indulgence of mine. I have these at the moment....

Which are...

A Rolex Datejust, my only "keeper" that I've owned from new in 1984

Archimede Deck Watch, handwinder

Damasko DC56

Damasko DA37

CWC RN quartz diver

Three from Timefactors in Sheffield . . .

1. Dreadnought Voyager, diver with GMT hand

2. Smiths Everest

3. PRS5 Broadarrow, manual wind chrono

Three G10s, on the left my old work watch from the Fire Service, the Precista an RAF issue from 1983, on the right British Army issue from 1984

I'll go against the grain on this one

As I don't like jewelry on my wrists/hands, I'll usually wear a pocket watch to special occasions.

My favorite is an Illinois Bunn Special. It looks something like this:

HR monitor; GPS with Topo maps and tracking; ABC; great iPhone integration; Calorie use, steps, stairs, sleep monitoring; weather; controls your music player; notifications; basic astronomy. Lots of watch faces, apps, widgits.

Doesn't: Reply to messages, search for things, pay for coffee, take pictures.

Does: tell you if Jupiter is in the sky and where to look for it!
