Default NGD - Crafter

OK, I've been wanting a hybrid guitar for some time. Been looking at the Taylor's and Godin's, but they were just of the price range. So this past weekend a local guitarist that has a private shop posted this Crafter SA with a fitted case. I went by checked it out and he agreed on a fair trade with cash for one of my Acoustic/Electrics. I had told my wife that I would not purchase another guitar unless one went out. The deal he offered me was much better than any of the other shops around would have offered so I felt good when it was over with.

I am still playing around with it. The overall look is really nice, the neck feels good and plays good. So far I've been able to get some usable acoustic sounds out of it with enough electric to do what I need it to do. I did find that I need a little bit of compression on it in my effect chain and it sustains very well. It's not a Taylor T5 or a Godin, but it suits my needs. So I just had to share this.

I think they are great guitars. I was looking at a couple the Guitar Center had before I ran across my SST.

I am really liking the neck. The tones I can always play around with, but the neck for my hand is really nice. To me it is similar to my Les Paul, but less thick. It is solid enough that I can strum it for my acoustic side and then kick over to the electric for my additional background accents or lead playing.

From what I have read the acoustic pickup is LR Baggs, but the preamp is from Crafter. So far it sounds good. The EQ controls are very responsive. The acoustic sound is similar to my Ovation and the electric side gives me a nice jazz tone.

I have the black version of this guitar. I'm not much of an electric guitar person myself. I have to get rid of mine or trade it for an acoustic or classical. It is a nice guitar though. It feels solid.

I have had a Crafter identical to yours for over 5 years. They are outstanding guitars! Very effective for getting acoustic tones at high stage volumes without feedback. Get a good setup job on yours and you will be able to play most anything you can play on an electric while sounding like an acoustic. I really like mine.

Congrats! I would assume that the UST would work well with a Fishman Aura pedal.....

I had one of these for about 2 years and enjoyed it. A very worthy alternative to a T5 for sure. Enjoy!! The top is killer.

I plan to try it out with one soon. Unfortunately the winter weather and me moving at the same time has disrupted everything. LOL.
