It's usually the proofreader that causes the problem.

I'm a bit Luddite; don't have anything beyond a flip phone so I have no idea how all that happens.

Yes, there is.. This forum doesn't have a mobile version, so everything is the same. It's probably auto-correct that is the problem. I turn it off, because it can be very annoying and you really have to pay attention. But mistakes happen, it would be nice however for the TS to enlighten us..

I'll be using a bending iron to do the task with.

From what I've read I'm to spritz the strip then gently place on the iron and b me to shop...

To me it seems simple but I'm sore, as with all building steps there is a LOT more to it that takes decades and decades to perfect.

Any preliminary hints? I have books and YouTube, but no experience yet.

Thanks

I bent some birds eye maple last year for a guitar. Much easier than I thought it would be. I take it to 2.0 or 2.1 mm.

I've not seen any Birdseye binding. I'll bet that turned out just gorgeous!

OP, you ought to use a metal backing strip.
We read what he meant - not what he said.

You get used to that when you are married

There is a definite feel to it.
As the wood relaxes over the iron you can DEFINITELY feel it sag. It is subtle, but noticeable
