Can Zoom A3 XLR out be used to monitor output?
Outputing from Xoom A3 to laptop recorder (using Audacity), I cannot monitor what I'm playing. If I plug headphones into the XLR balanced output, will I be able to record from the 1/4" output AND be able to monitor it via the headphones?
Thanks. |

The headphones will not work plugged into the XLR output or if it does will not sound correct.
May not be the best solution, but the cables below should work OK This is a stereo 'Y' splitter cable. Plug it into the 'Headphone' output on the Zoom A3. Plug your headphones into one of its jacks. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/YPP118 Into the other jack of the cable above, plug the 1/4" end of the cable below into it and the other end other this cable into the 1/8" (3.5mm) 'Line' input jack on the computer (assuming you're using the 1/8" computer jacks.) https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CMS105 |

Sorry I'm a year late in my response. Rough year.
It turns out that on the Zoom A3, using the XLR Balanced Output via an XLR-to-1/8" adapter worked great as a headphone monitor. I can hear all the effects perfectly. Thanks to both of you for your advice. |
