i recently bought a used Goodall Rosewood Standard. i had heard that some people think they are "overtone heavy". but it sounds great to my ear. It does everything well, from strumming, flat picking, and even finger style. Sounds just jump out of it. It can get loud, but responds well to a soft touch. Just an amazing guitar.

Good thread.

I was profoundly impressed when I played a couple of Goodalls at Guitar Rodeo. To me that's what an acoustic guitar should sound like. After playing a Goodall all other guitars sound dead, as if someone stuck a pillow in the sound hole.

That's a pretty accurate statement. My Larrivees sound great, but my Goodall is on another level. Here is a little instrumental I just wrote and recorded tonight on my Goodall Rosewood Standard. https://soundcloud.com/247hoopsfan/n...nnings-goodall

I am happy that my Goodall (RCJC Cedar/Rosewood) was an inspiration, Gary!
Now I really want a Goodall parlor too, thanks for returning the favor! LOL

There is a LOT of Goodall love and respect here on the AGF for sure..

That's a beautiful tune and a very beautiful sounding guitar. The only thing that's preventing me from buying a Goodall is the price, but sometimes I think of selling all my Taylors, Eastmans and Seagulls and just getting one Goodall.

I have a Concert Jumbo (master grade Adirondack over Honduran Rosewood) on order which I hope to receive next month. This thread is propelling my anticipation into overdrive!

Billy you will love your CJ! The Parlors and CJs are my favorite Goodall models. Congrats!

Thanks, Swiftz. I had (have) only been able to actually play a parlor and a grand concert. I inquired here on the AGF before making the decision about just which Goodall model to buy and CJ's seemed to get a lot of love.

If you want a Goodall, look into used ones. When people spend $6K and up on a guitar, they usually take pretty good care of them. My Standard is 25 years old and looks new. You should be able to pick up one pretty easily for $3k to $4k. If you want a jumbo, SuperB23 has a beautiful one for sale right now.

Another Goodall Fan here. I've had my RCJC for almost 5 years now, simply wonderful. It has a custom 1-11/16 nut width, with the full Goodall neck profile, it's a nice fit. I agree with the descriptions here, James is a genius.

To Billy Shears: I had the same tonewood combination in a CJ custom-ordered in late 2012 that arrived in Spring 2013. You are in for a treat! (Mine has curly koa binding on the body, peghead, and neck, and some abalone inlay on the bridge to match the fingerboard inlay.)

You will love it, the CJ is so versatile. Try it with lights (articulate fingerpicker) and with mediums (cannon), its almost like having two different instruments.

By the looks of your signature, you probably won't miss it as much when your new Charis and Doerr come in.
