I greatly respect everyone in this thread for keeping it together for this long. Let's continue to respect each other while agreeing to disagree.

Agreed. I have a Chinese mandolin -- Kentucky brand which is a cruel twist on the American South. Came with a huge "MADE IN CHINA" sticker on the back of the headstock. I removed it and immediately started receiving offers of wine, women (no, not like that, silly -- slim and with good teeth!) and money.

You are right.
Well said! It strongly applies to the odd position being held by those that object to your statement that "most" people hold Made in America near and dear, and even more so in regard to guitars.

I agree that most American's don't care enough about Made In The USA to actually do something about it. Or, they don't really understand when they are buying US and when they aren't.

Here is an interesting article about "Made in America" cars. In order to be on the list, 75% or more of the parts must be US made, etc. In short, the most "Made in America" car is the Toyota Camry. There were only 7 cars that even qualified and Ford and Chrysler weren't on the list at all.

So, if you want to support US workers, buy a Toyota Camry!!

And yet another semi-interesting thread descends into a "you said, no I didn't, yes you did" waste of bandwidth. It's almost as inevitable as the sun rising in the morning.

I don't know about civil, but it certainly is entertaining!

BTW, I'm a boomer and buy American when I can. Sometimes I simply cannot. Thus is life.

In spite of Matthew's efforts to keep this civil, I am closing this thread to stop the bickering.

Thanks,
Glenn
