Default Fender Headstock Logos

Hello all,

I have a couple of American Deluxe products (a Jazz and a Strat) from about eleven years ago and both have headstock logos that are a sort of three dimensional polished steel rather than being a gold decal. I rarely see anything like it and can't seem to find much about them on the interwebz... so I wondered if anyone here knew anything about them. Were they a short run thing? Anything specific? Or just a change of design for a season or two?

Thanks

Can't really say... I know Fender has changed the decals on their headstocks over the years, from the "spaghetti" logos of the Leo Fender years, to the black "TV" logos of the CBS years, to a transitional logo (like the one you describe), to the current one.
I'm hoping that someone with more detailed knowledge of the various Fender headstock decals will chime in on this.

I have an Am. Dlx. Tele from that era with the same logo. I think it was to differentiate them from the Am. Std. at that time...

The rolled fingerboard edges and noiseless pu's were also particular to those models, as well as the abalone neck dots. I used to have a similar strat but traded it off.

...i had one of the early american deluxe teles...(the ones with 3 pickups)...i sold it on ebay and when i was polishing it up i rubbed a couple of the smaller letters right off of the headstock...i had to let the buyer know and he backed out of the deal...be careful not to rub too hard if you're cleaning or polishing the headstock....

I think the silver PRS signatures on the headstocks rub off as well....
