So sorry that I will be missing these beauties and the work by other fine luthiers in Santa Barbara this weekend.
I have always appreciated your understated aesthetic, Bruce. Even those ribbons on the inside are pretty and tasteful! I look forward to hearing reports from folks who are lucky enough to play these instruments. Best, Jayne |

The Fess Parker Hilton in Santa Barbara is a seriously upscale venue. This is going to be a very nice event if people come to it. Right on the beach! Perfect weather. Great room. I sent some pics of the empty room to 2/5/1 and I hope he'll post them here. My table is the first one in the door.

This thread has become so "last week" and I have returned to my regular program.
I did think SBAIC/17 solved virtually all of the "problems" people felt SBAIC/16 had. Unfortunately, while attendance was substantial by comparison, it was not stellar. I did not actually think attendance was as bad last year as others I know said they did. I have been to two festivals with under 200 on the entire week-end, and SBAIC/16 was not that! I have been told the actual numbers (though I only remember them approximately), and last year I believe there were +/-850 discrete buyer of about 1200 day tickets. Because the space was cavernous and poorly laid out, it did not often appear to have so many in it. The concrete floor and the ventilation system were regrettable. It did not go so far as to have an unpleasant smell, however. I do not have the stats for SBAIC/17 yet. The room was the best I have experienced in my over 100 shows. Architecturally pleasing and with deep pile carpeting, invisible but substantial ventilation, plenty of space between the tables, and wide isles made the time fly by. The show was a class act whether or not you compared it to the previous iteration. By the way, I had a great time last year as well, so I might be an easy sell: I almost always find a silver lining, whatever my situation is. Whether I go next year or not, you should consider it. Santa Barbara is the very sweetest part of the California coast, which goes a long way to explaining why there is such a great town there. |

I had never been to an acoustic guitar festival before SBAIC last week, so I don't have e a reference point for comparison---but I loved every minute of the show! The luthiers with these world class instruments, the non-stop performances by stunningly great players--Paul's (from Dream Guitars) yoga on the beach for guitarists and more. Great stuff!

SBAIC guitar Giveaway Winner!
One more post here in this thread seems appropriate.
The FT-00-WRX I gave away is safely in the hands of Billie Jo Walsh, and I have a picture of her with the guitar to share with you all. Billie Jo and her husband both play, and it seems a better home would have been unlikely. |
