Default VEGA D-26

Just acquired this. S/N 9821. Does anyone know how old this might be? I'm guessing 1950s? Possible value? This is missing the end strap pin. (5/16" hole remains.) Any suggestions on adding one? I'm assuming the 2 controls are volume and tone? (I guess the "D" designation in D-26 means "duotone", so maybe not?) Neck is perfectly straight. Tried to loosen truss nut (with 1/4" hex driver) and nut comes completely free of truss rod, but this did not add any "bow" for relief. It appears to have slinky strings on it. I'm guessing that if I replace them with medium gauge, flat wound maybe, that might add a little bow to the neck. This is in remarkably good shape for an old guitar. I can't wait to set it up properly and play it!

Is this an "Odell" archtop? While I am far from an expert on Vega archtops, I have seen a number of Odells with four digit serial numbers. If so these guitars were only available in the 1950s. As noted above, photos would really help.
