Default Velazquez Guitar

Looking for a good shop to repair some finish scratches on a 1967 Manuel Velazquez classical guitar. I bought the guitar in 1970 and have not used it much since around 1980. Would also need to have it checked over for any issues that might need to be addressed from years of not being played much. I live in Staten Island, NY so looking for someone in the Metro area.

Try calling Beverly Maher at The Guitar Salon. She has sold several Velasquez instruments and probably can direct you to someone competent.

Another option is to contact these folks.

New York Guitar Parlor is a unique boutique that specializes in selling new and used Flamenco and Classical Guitars.

They are located inside of New York Guitar Academy at 1239 Broadway (Suite 1006 - 10th Fl) between W.31st and W.30th Streets in Manhattan.

You could try Aaron Green. He lives closer to Boston but goes to NYC frequently. I'm sure that he would meet with you. His restoration work is top notch. His guitars are the best that I have ever played. Check out this link.

Another possibility, Manuel's son Alfredo could do the work. He lives in Florida.
