I would agree that the sound your looking for should dictate the guitar you buy. If you don't need or care for the Martin sound, don't waste your time on Martin dreds. One of the cooler sounding dreadnaughts I've played turned out to be a Breedlove. Um...No he didn't. His original post didn't mention a brand, and his only OTHER post mentioned finding a Martin for sale. For all we know he's looking at this guitar, sight unseen, but thinks he MUST get a Martin because all the Martin people here think NOTHING else will do. I hope he has more guitar testing in his search than just a post in these forums.

The point was supposed to be that you don't HAVE to buy a given brand 'cause you are going to buy a dreadnaught. Shop around. You might be surprised.
