If the concept really pans out, my suspicion is that purists will buy it, and then the concept will get more exposure, and then the design will be imitated by other manufacturers, and then models will be offered at a lower price, and so on.....

I am intrigued by the claim of uniform horizontal dispersion of sound. Time will tell.

Not to derail the thread from the main focus "The new personal pa"

But with regard to the Baggs Acoustic Reference amp,
I was able to find a new old stock, a couple of years ago and purchased it.
by far the best dual channel small instrument/vocal amp I've ever encountered,
fairly light weight and very transparent/accurate reproduction of natural acoustic tone,
has more volume output than I've ever needed.

It is my understanding that the speaker manufacturers were unable to reliably reproduce the quality of the prototype speaker, and so Baggs stocked up on an inventory of repair parts and discontinued the model.

That's pretty much the same thing I was told,
I spoke at length with one of the guys with LR Baggs at the NAMM show a couple of years ago about the acoustic-ref amp,
and why it was discontinued.

There were problems with the consistency/quality of the production speakers,
they changed manufacturers, absorbed the increased cost of the new speaker
repaired under warranty the defective units.

the amp was already in "boutique amp" price range, probably a little ahead of it's time, for demand at the price point,
the new speaker would push the price, so they decided to stockpile parts, including speakers, to support future repairs,
and discontinued production.
