Behringer Q502 USB? HELP!
Hi,
So I realize that the presonus firebox that I was gifted is not compatible with mac 10.11. I'm looking at the Behringer Q502 USB now, and was wondering if anyone had thoughts on it. It might be easier for me as i'm learning to just have something plugged into the computer directly? I'm intending to record guitar and vocals simultaneously...would this interface work? Sorry for all the silly questions! http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHXENTX502?siid=46597 |

I'm surprised the Presonus won't interface.
If you are thinking of having only a single interface connecting acoustic mics for instruments and vocals and the computer, I'd recommend a better single unit that has a GOOD onboard pre-amp and will do a quality job of translating the analog signal to digital, as that will comprise a huge portion of your recording quality (though not all). What are your budget constraints? You're plugging directly into the Mac system? That is, your signal chain will be instrument >> analog/digital interface >> computer? |

I wouldn't recommend a mixer (like the Behr) as their A-D converters are usually only 16 bit and noisy when compared to a true audio interface. There are many inexpensive 2-input AIs available from $99 up with decent mic preamps.
