Default Joe Strummer telecaster

Anyone play or own the Joe Strummer telecaster. Just saw it at Guitar Center and it has a really cool look to it, just wondering about versatility and tone.

Shalom!

The Clash were a HUGE influence on me growing up. I am rarely interested in Sig models but...I could own one of these.

Pretty much, I love relic guitars so it caught my eye... I wasn't even sure who Joe Strummer was until I looked him up on the Fender website. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with the tele.

Shalom!

I would gladly jam with either of them.

Joe Strummer Sig model?

I'm going to have to check that out!

I'm not a sig model guy either, but for Joe I might change my mind!

Cheers,
Chris

I saw one yesterday at GC. It's OK, but nothing special unless the relic job that makes it look like Joe Strummer's Tele is your kind of thing. Since I never heard of him before I heard about the guitar, it obviously doesn't do anything for me in that regard and I'd prefer to have the same guitar at a lower price without the relic job.

Fender is giving one away on their website. Check it out at http://www.fender.com/

The Strummer model looks to be a standard MIM 60s Classic with mint green guard, a relic finish and engraved name plate. For the scratch the Strummer model will cost, you could pick up a Baja Tele and beat the heck out of it.

Since my version of a Telecaster is a Peavey Reactor, American made and available used via ebay for under $200, virtually any Telecaster with the Fender name on it isn't worth the money to me. On the other hand, if I had to pick one, it would be the 69 Thinline Reissue. That hollow body just gives it a sweet tone and the new Squier equivalent is supposed to be a great guitar too.
