Default RARE Guild G37 -- a steal at $550

Hi all

I have a 1975 Guild G37 for sale. Priced to MOVE. $550 includes UPS shipping.

Early 70s Guilds are pretty hard to come by and are increasing in value quickly. This was built in the famous Rhode Island shop.

Ordered it last year from RUMBLESEAT MUSIC in New York. They sold it in VG+ condition. I agree, though I've improved the condition with new strings, neck adjustment, and a thorough cleaning/polishing.

Solid spruce top. Maple Archback. (This is the 70's model which became the d30 in the late 80s.)

NOTE: There is a 1" crack right beside the pickguard -- hard to see from a couple feet and quite normal for old Guilds. Doesn't affect the sound or the vibe.

I haven't got it repaired yet...and rather than do so I'm selling this very cheap b/c I really really need to finance another purchase quickly.

When available from quality shops like RUMBLESEAT or NORM'S RARE GUITARS, they are listed $900 plus.

For you Guildians out there, I've shared photos of this one with Hans Moust ( -- Guild historian -- ) who was excited to find a '73 model in such good shape.

Comes with nice case.

$550 shipped.

Yes, I've seen the photos but the dating is a little off; it's a G-37 from the year 1975.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

I owned one of these and loved it. They are nice sounding and playing guitars. They are typical of Guilds of that vintage, well built, sturdy and strong.

Is the crack just in the finish or is it in the wood?

Default correction

It is a 1975 Guild. Not 1973. MY MISTAKE. Thank you Hans for correcting.

Default crack

To clarify. The crack is in the top wood. About 1" long. Priced accordingly

Default sounds like....

The Guild G37 sounds 'thumpy', sort of like a Gibson j45, but without the dry mahogany sound. It also has great projection due to its archback.

There are only 2 or 3 clips on Youtube b/c the guitar is pretty rare. But these videos are very representative of the G37 "sound".

Thanks for asking!

Default added pics

Hi all

Thanks for the several interested emails. I think I've sent everyone their requested pics, but just to be safe I will also add the links.

the case

As mentioned, this is the only significant flaw in an otherwise very good condition vintage 38 year old guitar.

Default Nice Guild

Both pics are of the pickguard crack, not of the case. How about one of the nice old case? Thanks.

Guild eventually changed the model name to D30. I own 2 D30's and love them. They have more sustain than you normally expect from a maple guitar. They are plenty loud and well suited for vocal accompaniment.

At this price, someone better jump quick. This is a USA-made instrument at a crazy price. Who cares about an itsy bitsy crack. Most pre-war Martins have cracks and sell for mucho deniro.
