Default New Edwinson Nylon Crossover

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the AGF. I posted on the steel string side until I realized there was a classical nylon section. I just wanted to share my new Edwinson Nylon Crossover. My main guitar was a Cervantes Crossover 1 until I got this guitar. I have had her only a month so the trebles are still evolving but she already has considerably more power and depth. The luthier responsible for this beauty is Steve Sheriff of Edwinson guitars who came up with a very cool elliptical brace pictured below which brings considerable volume without the need for a double top. Here is a clip from my teacher Gen Young playing this guitar.

My recording equipment is not so great, but still I think it comes across pretty well. Much better in person, of course. Anyway, she has AB back and sides, 150 yr old sinker redwood top. The rosette is fashioned after a DNA helix (I am a physician). The neck inlays are the birth signs of my sons, wife and myself. I couldnt be happier with the outcome. Steve is such an awesome person to work with and such a nice guy.

Looks incredible and sounds just a great! congrats
I've never seen such a bracing before, but it seems to work great! The tone really reminds me on an Andrew White classical I used to own - it had a smaller plantilla and an I-beam bracing or something or other...very direct and clear, unconventionally quick classical sound with notes that really "popped" out of the guitar.
Since you don't need that Cervantes anymore...I'd be more than happy to take her off your hands

Congrats! That's a beautiful guitar.

Love the Brouwer too. He's one of my favorite composers.

Kindly,
Danny

Wow!!! I have a sinker redwood guitar myself (Taylor BTO, acoustic, not nylon). I love that headstock too!

Paul, I've linked in a couple of your pics for you:

Default Cervantes Crossover 1

Now that I am used to my new Edwinson Crossover, I have posted my 2 year old Cervantes Crossover 1 on the classifieds for anyone interested in a great crossover. In my humble opinion, there is no better crossover in this price range.

Congrats.
Very modern sound.

In the photos of the guitar under construction, interesting treatment of the cutaway area.

I am curious about the weight of the guitar.

Always interesting to see developments in bracing patterns.

A couple years ago I spent a bit of time conversing with Alejandro Cervantes about classicals, and "crossovers". he sent me some samples. Well made but
the sound was too modern for my personal taste. I have a Cervantes flamenco actually made by Carlos Pena(Pina).

The Edwinson guitar is quite heavy compared with the Cervantes because of the African blackwood. But due to the more modern cutaways and bevels it is quite comfortable.

Other observations:

I notice you have fitted golpeadors; flamenco or flatpicking?

The bridge looks vaguely like efforts by possibly Fischer. A clever idea to keep a large footprint but lose some weight.

Nice top.

Flamenco. I pocked up my Cervantes a bit even with the Golpeador. Still, its worth it. These are meant to be driven, not sit in the garage.
