Default Les Paul

I am looking at a stock gloss black 2010 Gibson Les Paul Studio in exc condition.
This will be my first electric. Feels good, easy to play. What say you?
Pros or Cons about this guitar.

You get an awful lot of guitar for the money with the Studio. If all looks good go for it and turn the volume up to 11.

Nothing sounds like a Les Paul like the real deal. Please post some pics after you grab it!
I'm more of a strat guy. You realize that you need a Strat, Tele, Gretsch and an ES-335 to complete the collection...

Les Paul Studios are excellent guitars, especially if you've played it and like it. Not sure if you're interested in whether it's all stock with the case? If so, ask.

The only potential con I can think of is whether you'll find it heavy playing standing up for more than a few minutes.

That's one where you ultimately need to decide. Many love them, and many don't.

Have you tried different iconic models or types of guitars? If you're an acoustic player does weight bother you? Do you like the humbucker tone or some tones associated with certain designs?

I bought and sold different types because actually owning helped me know what I liked. Over time I did much more delayed gratification and trying stuff before buying.

No matter what you can't go too wrong when you get an iconic product and design that's been popular for generations.

Have fun with your first electric!

P.S. Be warned that amps are the other part of the equation.

I took the plunge today. A buddy gave me a screaming deal on his (one owner) Ebony all stock 2010 Les Paul Studio with case in Excellent Condition.

I played several different iconic electrics recently. After trying out several I found that I really liked the sound, feel and playability of the LP.

Always loved the LP, ever since the mid 70's when a friend had an original 58' gold top.Funny how these things work out. Back then I never thought about playing guitar...now I have 3 acoustics, one electric, and a custom acoustic in the
works.

Enjoy! The guitar I've owned the longest is a Les Paul.

Fantastic! Looks great. That would have the Gibson 490r/498t pickups. They tend to get a lot of flack from traditionalists but I like them in my 2006 Studio (wine red, gold hardware).

How heavy is your studio? I'm thinking Gibson started chambering the bodies at that time.

I had a '74 Deluxe Goldtop for 30 years. I paid 400 bucks for it in 1984. I was an awesome guitar. Road hard and battle scarred. It played 80% of the tunes at my gigs while a my Strat stayed on the stand. I sold it about 3-4 years ago. It may be the only thing i've sold that i got a 500% ROI on. I barely got 20% on the Strat.

Still wish I had it though.

By it. You'll love it.

It weighs 7.8 lbs.

I do not know anything about electrics...I am playing it through my little ULTRASOUND acoustic amp. The bass E string is so much louder than the other 5. I cannot find a combination of switch position and volume/tone controls that will bring the volume even across all strings.

I think you now need to buy an electric guitar amplifier to match your new electric guitar.
