Default What parts of a cf guitar are not cf?

Obviously the tuners, strings, pickups and frets aren't. What about the saddle, nut, fretboard, etc.? And does it vary by manufacturer/model?

Thanks

I know that Emerald and Rainsong use Graphtech nuts and saddles, while CA uses a "proprietary material" for those.

At the risk of showing my ignorance, the frets couldn't be CF, could they?

Well I know a lot of the rainsongs have a lot of glass in their bodies, not jsut carbon. I'm not sure about the other brands, my L13 is more on the heavier side than what I would expect for pure carbon fibre, so I was thinking the same, despite not finding anything on the website.

The bridge and fretboard of blackbirds are made of "micarta" which is a brand name, so I don't knwo what it really is.

I could be wrong, but I think Emerald and CA use stainless steel, while Rainsong uses nickel silver.

Yes, Emerald and CA both use stainless steel frets. I'm pretty sure Blackbird does, too. Rainsong uses standard nickel frets.

Which is why in the end I went with a Lucky 13 instead of a Rainsong. I still have a Rainsong BI that haunts my dreams though.

The fingerboard and bridge on RainSong graphite guitars are a composite material and not carbon fiber.

Regards,

RainDance (aka SpruceTop when not carbonated)

In an attempt at being thorough, I'll add that my Emerald has a sterling silver logo on the headstock and a paper label visible through the soundhole. And let's not forget strap pins and electronics.
