Default Blue, by The Jayhawks

Anyone here who plays the song "Blue" by The Jayhawks? I just can't get that A to B to E riff, my efforts sound like crud. Could use some learned guidance. Thanks!

I play it two ways.

Regular E chord, followed by A in open position but use your Middle, ring, and little finger. Then, just slide that up and back, letting the high E ring.

I've also played it using an E fingering and sliding that to the 7th and 9th frets, while letting the E and B strings ring. That's not how Gary Louris and Mark Olsen played it, but it sounds fine.

I have to play this song in Eb tuning as the vocal is too high for me to comfortably sing in standard tuning.
