Default Red River Valley

I became intrigued by this song after hearing the little boy sing it at the end of the movie "Wild".
However, the more I search, the more versions that I find.
I understand that it is a really old song and multiple verses and chords will exist.
But I can't seem to find even two versions that agree,
anybody point me to a popular one, maybe the one that you use?
Strum and pick, not fingerstyle.
Thanks.

Hi Riverwolf,

I've got a version in my YouTube channel, see the link in my signature. It's back from the day when I was doing a song-of-the-week challenge, so it's a little on the rough side. It has lyrics and chords.

There is no guitar in the movie version?

The version in Mark Hanson's Great American Tablature book is a lot of fun.

Here is a version that isn't too hard that is pretty good.

And another, slightly more challenging:

No. A little boy singing out on the Pacific Crest Trail.
A touching scene.
