Resonator case question
A friend is looking for a case for an old National roundneck resonator. All we seem to find online are squareneck cases. Would one of those work? If so, I would think some additional padding might be needed around the neck for support.
Any info/recommendations/comments would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Most round neck resos will fit in a classical guitar case.
You can get a new case from NRP, or from vintagenationals.com. Most case manufacturers make cases for round-neck nationals.

I have one of these cases with the logo, for a round neck, almost new that I'd be willing to sell: (scroll down):

I tried a nice Musician's Gear archtop classical case and my Martin 00-18V's archtop Geib case. The National body fits in both of them very well. The problem is that the reso body is thin and the neck fits over the neck support/accessories compartment at an angle that won't let the case close. If you raise the body up to level out the neck then the cover plate is up too high for the top to close.
I suppose the height of the neck support/accessories compartment could be cut down to a lower level. I thank you for your suggestions. I was hoping he might find a Musicians Gear bargain case but it looks like he'll have to go to our local guitar shop and take the National with him to see if we can find something for it. |

I keep mine in a regular guitar case. Works just fine.
