Roy! I am in Ohio where your guitar passes on its way to your destination. I am a designated interception specialist. I will gladly stop the UPS truck and test it for ya! Just let me know!

Congratulations it looks great and Maury is great to deal with.

Great Roy! But now you'll have to trade in the D-18 towards a Gibson J-45 to make the universe in equilibrium again....

Ouch...sore subject. Harnessed by my strict one-in-one-out rule, I had to sell the 45 to get the D-18. And had to sell my CEO-7 to get the D-28. The D-18 is my favorite guitar EVER (well, at least so far) and I suspect the new D-28 will be a monster, too.

But of all the guitars I've ever sold, which do I miss most? Yep, the 45 and CEO-7.

I have been trying to live by the same rule. And I felt the same about my D18. My beloved E20D had to leave to make way for an absolute monster J15. And now I have a new favorite.

I'd take the D18 and D28 over both of those anyday. My 814 is leaving to make room for another Martin.

My wife had started that 1 in 1 out rule with me and after I complied for a little while I told her in 1,000 years from now do you think it would matter if some old guy had 8 guitars instead of 6? I'm going to be dead a long time.

Rule is gone.

Keep in mind though that my self imposed budget for any one guitar is $2,300, tops.

Which Martin. What don't you like about your 814?

Check post #8. Maury ended up shipping it that same day...so I'll be picking it up first thing Wednesday morning at the local UPS facility.

You know, it's not that I don't like it because I really do. It's just not a guitar that I've ever really been all that enthralled with. I've had it about a year and a half and I'm still waffling over selling it, yet I've owned my D18 for all of a month and I've bonded instantly. I've felt this just 3 times over the years, first with my Strat and second with my PRS. Now, it's finally happened with an acoustic and I always wondered if it would ever happen with an acoustic.

Having said that, I have two main reasons for wanting to sell my 814. First, I know that I can't make a guitar with factory electronics a long term guitar. I just don't want to buy any more guitars with knobs and wires. Second, I know what a stellar Martin can do to my soul. The 814 is the best Taylor I've ever played, but here I am still waffling over selling it over a year later.

The 814 was the hot girl that I thought I could marry and was engaged to, but the D18 is the girl that unexpectedly took my breath away and made me realize what true love is...cheesy, so sorry.
