Squire Strat California v Classic vibe 60s
Im currently watching 2 guitars on eBay. A Fender Squire Start California series and a Fender Squire classic vibe 60s strat.
Both seem like decent guitars although the vibe 60s is over $200 AU with 3 days to go and the California is $100 Au with 5 hrs to go. Anyone know much about these 2 models and if I should stick with the cheaper one or go for the Vibe even if it costs more?

I know the CV Tele's get some high praise over at the Telecaster forum. Considered higher quality than the regular Squiers.

Unfortunately my budget doesn't allow for Fender strats or teles or thats exactly what I would be buying. So its Squiers for me.

I own a CV Tele, great guitar. Not just "for the money", but great guitar. Mine is heavily modded, but more out of personal preference and my addiction to tinkering with things than necessity. If the Strats from the CV series are anywhere near the Teles, I'd say go for the Classic Vibe.

Well the auction for the California ended at $167.50 and I missed out. The Cv has 3 days to go and is still at $205 and Im the highest bidder so far.
What should I bid up to on this guitar?

I don't know about US prices but I paid £250 for my Squier VM 50s Tele and here in the UK they sell for £420 brand new.
So I paid around 60% of the new price and mine is perfect condition with upgraded tuners. I'm very happy with the guitar.

Well brand new in Australia they are $799. My highest bid at the moment was going to be $300 but perhaps I should go a bit higher. Here is the link to it and hopefully there aren't too many Aussies on here, in Melbourne that will bid against me on it..lol

Good luck my guess is it might go for $400 (Australian).
I haven't played one but they have a very good reputation.

Well he ended up pulling the advert and then put it back for sale on Gumtree for $550 ONO. I offered him $500 and he accepted so I pick it up on the weekend. Now Im not so sure that I should have spent this much on a guitar, thoughts?

As a US resident it is hard to evaluate pricing down under. That price would be high-ish here...but I am not sure that matters for you.

I would expect the guitar to be in perfect condition for that price. You might have trouble getting your money back if you decide to sell but if it's a good one you've got a nice guitar and have saved £120 from new.

I ended up getting it for $500. He was asking $550 and I possibly could have knocked him down to $450 but I thought whats $50. It has a few small nicks in it but other than that its in good condition. The way I see it is I now have a great electric guitar that will last me many many years of playing.
