Default Darn you Sweetwater book....

Just got my Sweetwater pro book in the mail. Now I'm crushing on a guitar I never saw before.

They have these Supro Island series " Hampton" guitars that make me want to reach for my wallet.. grrrrrrrrrr

Check them out.....

Now... Which color, black or blue..... I'd be black and blue after my wife got done with me if I hit order
.. but still, love the look and tone!

the supro amps, also built by valco and other chicago makers, were more highly thought of than the guitars. since the new supro people have upgraded and upcharged the amps, they probably figured they would do the same for the guitars.

play music!

I found that electric guitars, in gig bags, are particularly easy to hide from the wife. :-) Kidding. Maybe.

"I know who you are. I know what you want. If you are looking to sell a guitar, I'm not buying. But I do have a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over many years of GAS. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. One of them is to go through guitar store mailers like a child fanning through a "flip book", stopping only on bulk string-set bargains. And distortion pedals. And maybe amps. Maybe one of those small high gain oranges... Honestly, I'm pretty open, as long as it's all tube... But I digress.

If you send me the 10 pack of EJ-17s with the bonus Daddario pint glass, with free shipping, I'll continue to buy from you. But if you don't, I'll call Musician's Friend, I'll get a price match, and I won't call you again"

I really had a flashback when I saw that guitar in my Sweetwater book. Back when I was a young pup in the late 60s, learning to play blues-rock, and before I had a guitar of my own, I was able to borrow one just exactly like that...same color, even...for a couple months. I didn't even know what it was.

I really hated giving that guitar back to it's owner...it had tone for days, fantastic action and great, hot pickups that would sustain into controlled feedback. It was miles beyond any of the other, crappy guitars I'd had my hands on. First guitar I ever played that gave me that bluesy grit and howl.

I've learned that if you buy all your guitars in the same color, it's very easy for new guitars to go unnoticed!
