Simple because guitars have gotten so complex what with wierd rosettes, cutaways and bevels on every edge, segmented binding etc etc. This guitar was pretty simple in comparison.

Simple to me is no head plate, no end graft, no rosette, no binding, side markers, maybe some dots for fret markers. See how much time can be saved and production numbers go up. Selling? Might be a little tougher though.
Nice looking guitar.

That one is "just right", rings all the pretty bells without clanging a one!

Yes, if this is a "simple" 000, then I wouldn't ever want a complex one! Keep up the good work!!

Wow, beautiful work indeed! Does the Honduran RW make it a bit of a heavier guitar overall? The reason I ask is that I remember Mark Dalton mentioning that the Honduran RW was a great bridge plate wood because of the tone but was too heavy to use for back and sides, for them at H&D.

Building with HRW makes a guitar with about the same weight as any building with any of the Dalbergias whether BRW, ABW, cocobolo or the rest. Indian RW, or Amazonian rosewood might be a little less dense but They all make great guitars and with weight savings in mind they all make acceptably light instruments

Didn't see your post till this morning. Yes, perhaps I did have your build in mind when I labeled this guitar a simple build. As noted earlier simple is a comparative term. Yours on the other hand may be the most complex build I have undertaken to date. I might need to give some thought to your underpaid comment

The HRW ... Stevensonii or Tucurensis? Both nice Rosewoods, and this set is quite nice. Just curious .. I have a guitar with the former topped with red spruce and it rings like crazy ..

I have assumed Stevensonii but really have nothing to base that on. HRW is great stuff, a sonic bargain, and i can imagine your guitar did ring like the proverbial bell.

Very nice guitar regardless of build category (simple or otherwise). Love it John. It is "all good".

Based on: A, it looks like D. stevensonii, and B, it doesn't look like D. tucurensis, I'd say you're dead to rights. The real giveaway is when you handle it, Stevensonii seems surprisingly heavy, and tucurensis surprising light.
