John, that's very cool and I'll bet you are proud! Matthew, the guitar is looking great. Love the Ziricote and nice logo too.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I hope i dont sound self serving when i say that this little box looks superb and could pass at this stage for a guitar made by one of the best.

That's a beautiful guitar Matthew. You've got a great eye.

Kudos to you, Matthew on what appears to be a wonderful instrument and kudos to you, John for nurturing another artist into the world!

Matt, that is one very cool looking guitar, and very cool that the guitar building bug is getting to ya . Your pop has a pretty good handle on this building stuff...those are pretty big shoes to fill some day, but it looks like you're up to it. I'll look forward to seeing your progress on this beauty!

Since Matt is not yet a member of the AGF (and that is due to inertia not lack of interest), let me thank everyone for him for your kind remarks.

Its getting confusing now. I always thought that there was only 1 Kinnaird guitar luthier. Now I find out there is a John K, Steven K, and now Matthew K.

There is also a ukulele builder named Kinnaird. Is that John, Steven, or someone else? Anyone know?

The Kinnairds are brothers, John and Steve (Stephen) that build in separate shops, one in North Carolina (aka Kinnaird East as penned by me I believe) and Steve in East Texas. They build separate guitars for all practical purposes out of their own shops, separate labels, but both under the general name of Kinnaird guitars. Matthew is John's son and Steve's nephew who is currently working on his first guitar in his father's shop...not really an entity yet in the building world like Steve and John.

The Kinnaird guitars are amazingly well built and the sound is fantastic.

I can not help you with the Uke builder although I know they both dabble in other stringed instruments as well.

Hope this helps.

Default Yet another Kinnaird builder

Not to confuse the forum overmuch but there is a kinnaird ukulele builder. This is Ashlee, my daughter in law and Matt's wife. She is not going to be left out of this enterprise. I think her inspiration is Wayne Henderson's daughter, who lives not far from us and who builds ukes among other things.

Her first is a zircote and sinker redwood creation with koa trim
