That is a wonderful story - a wonderful ending to an old story! I remember reading the start of this thread years ago! And it turned out so beautiful - are you still going to sell it?

My inclination at this point is to keep this guitar. There are a couple of reasons.
1. I recently sold my Karol harp guitar, I do still own the Beardsell Harp guitar. This one is a great spare to have.
2. The McWingert is both "worthless and priceless" as my friend Gregg Miner puts it. From a collector's point of view it has been completely altered so the collectable value has been diminished. From the players point of view it is a much more functional instrument now. Of course the fact that Kathy Wingert did all the work certainly helps. It would be hard to determine a value for this instrument, but it would still be pretty high.
3. When I first got the McCollum, I really knew nothing about harp guitars, I knew that Lance was a great builder and I knew I wanted a harp guitar. In the 6-7 years that have gone by I have learned a lot about playing harp guitar. I have also seen and played enough harp guitars to know that this one is a really good one. It sounds great, it plays great and it's one of the sharpest looking Harp guitars that I have seen.
4. Of course everything has a price and you never know what is going to happen. One look at the classified section of this forum shows you that there are plenty of folks selling guitars they planned on keeping.

So the short answer is....it's not for sale at this point.

Default Mmmm!

Nice touch--that black strip on the back of the harp head, pulls all the elements together nicely. I don't like black top six-strings, at all, but I love what black does with a HG top (D Noble's black top walnut HG sold a couple years ago was an untouchable seductress for me!).
Time to get off the forum and go play
