Default Palm Routers

Anyone have experience with the Craftsman Professional 28212 6.5amp Palm router for general binding work, channels?

I have one and IMO it's a good router with one exception...the depth adjustment leaves a lot to be desired.

I have one and the depth adjustment is the same as most all small routers. I'd look into the Makita as it's the same price and built better. Also it's 1-1/4hp...

But the Ridgid compact router is 1 1/2 hp. I have the Ridgid and i really love it. Solid router with a nice adjustment wheel.

So the Rigid does have good fine adjustment?

Yes. I use it in my binding jig. I like the location of the adjustment wheel more than anything. Very convenient.

The Ridgid is a good router but the body is plastic thus the bearings sit in the plastic. The Makita has a machined aluminum body.

We use 4 ridgids in our binding setup and one for rosettes. Solid units for sure. Led light and a fine adjustment wheel that actually works very well. Probably add a few more as time goes by...

I have a dozen of the Ridgids... far and away my favorite. I also have several Ryobi, porter Cable and Freud palm routers that sit on the shelf... soft start, variable speed, light and adjustment are all excellent.
