Default Anyone familiar with the new Gibson '61 pickups?

Hey - Anyone familiar with the new Gibson '61 pickups? They're in the 2014 LPJ Les Pauls and SGJ SGs.

Great minds, as they say ...

I've also been eyeing those LPJs as a possible purchase. I'm starting to put together some multitrack recordings for my wife, who has got into short-clip filmmaking, and I will probably branch out and get an electric. These LPJs look like really nice instruments with plenty of good old Gibson burn!

They do have great prices. The LP is $799 at Long & McQuade (Canada) whereas the SG is $599. I just love the look of that LP with the satin burst and I've always been a sucker for zebra pickups.

Yes, it's satin burst I like the look of, too, closely followed by the chocolate. This a pretty good clip of the cherry. Have you seen this clip?

I saw 1/2 of that clip this morning and I plan to watch the other half later today. I should head back to the guitar store (was there this AM) and play it.

LOL, I just read this about the LPJ's description at Future:Shop.ca:

"Ideal for intermediate, right-handed players" (I underlined intermediate). Perhaps I should pass and get a guitar for an 'advanced' player
