Default Stanley Myers - Cavatina

Hi, today I've recorded Cavatina by Stanley Myers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=pe1ih3bPba8

Any suggestions?

As usual I received a copyright notification but... Anyone can read it?

Fortunately goggle translator translated it to: "Cavatina (from "The Deer Hunter" movie) (ed. Myers / J. Williams)".

Thanks,
Miguel

good tone, good sense of melody, good musicality needs work on rhythm and keeping the melody tight
and also you have a bad habit keeping your left elbow close to your body which results to a very strange position of your left hand especially when you play on the first frets with barre
probably is a good idea to play some technical stretching exercises something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoAk_oDcgZI
keep practicing and recording

Strange you've done the harder stuff yet have difficulty on some of the easier stuff!
Watch barre chords that c sharp in particular seems to be constantly muted throughout - try some seperation between top line and supporting arpeggios
There are a few melodic runs that tie in certain sections and these turnarounds should be practiced as the piece falls flat when they are not played well.
Your fingers on your fretting hand are covering adjacent strings sometimes (that high A shape for example) potentially causing muffled or muted notes.
This a hard piece - if you've practiced too much - put it away for a while and go back to it - I see students struggling with pieces that are beyond their level getting frustrated. You need to develop a few of the techniques highlighted, barre chords, 4 finger chords with string separation. Melody separation, timing etc.
Really good though work because as I mentioned very tough piece!

Steve

Here's a version I did few months back might help to see another take on it

I agree with Steve that this is a difficult piece and you 'd better try some easier pieces

Cavatina is one of those pieces that seems pretty easy at first, but it takes really good technique to play it really well. You've made a really nice effort here. I gave you a thumbs up as your playing of the piece is enjoyable overall. You carry the melody really well. You're about 95% of the way there, but that last 5% takes much longer than the first 95% with this one. I know -- I'm still trying to polish it up myself.

The only thing I'd add to what the others have said is that your doing something on the E pivot between parts A and B that seems a little odd to my ear each time I hear it. You might want to revisit that part.

Can you tell me the exact time of the video where this happens? Thanks.
