Default Question about back repair of violin

Hello, I have a violin where the back seem is partly loose, opened, just a short piece (exactly where you set the chin rest and about the same length too.)
So the side is sticking out a little from the back, maybe 1 - 1,5 mm.
But of course I could correct that. Then on the other hand, it could have been like that for decades. So by trying to do so I might make some other things bad, for instance introduce tensions in the instrument that are negative etc.

Not sure if I've quite got the right idea of what's going on. This thread might give some clues on how easy or complicated things could be depending of what all is wrong. https://maestronet.com/forum/index.p...b-deformation/

Maestronet is a good resource in general for that kind of stuff.
