I enjoyed this one, Glenn. I also perform it occasionally, for the right audience, but I hate tuning when performing, so I use a partial capo. The difference between singing in D and E isn’t much for me, and adds a little Steven Stills strain.
What I like is your sustain when singing this, while deciding when to head up the neck with your doublets.

Thank you Larry!

What an interesting observation that you could only have because you are so familiar with playing this song yourself! How very cool! And how nice of you to comment here!
I'm extremely pleased that you feel that this came out okay.

I can see where you would shy away from the retuning required to do this live in double-drop-D. I would, too!

Thanks so much Larry!!

As an experiment, above is the audio track from the video edited to add a light chorus effect on the two guitar tracks to sound a little bit more like the original Stephen Stills recording below:

The above recording was clearly recorded through Stills' pickup because you hear the unmistakable sound of piezo quack. My guitar recording was recorded live with good studio small condenser mics, so there is no piezo quack.

I still like the sound of the naked D-35, but I thought this was an interesting experiment. If the idea of the chorus effect was new to me, I might be very intrigued by this sound. But of course, chorus effects have been around for a long time, since the late 1970s in stand-alone units.

Thanks again for listening!

- Glenn

Glen. You nailed it. You're even in the neighborhood of Stephens voice. That song really sets a mood. Its in my top 3. There is an eeriness to it and when Stills does it, my neck hairs stand up. Your version did the same. And I notice that you "usually work alone".
Now then, hows about a little 4 & 20.... and Judy Blue Eyes.

Hi "62"!

Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and comment! I do usually work alone!!!

Actually I have been thinking about learning to play "4 & 20." I will work on that!

The most musical cover of this song I have ever heard, and that says a lot. It has the groove/spirit of the original! Thanks for sharing!
