Default Bad CF Buying Experience On Reverb

I have a Rainsong CH-OM on backorder from MF. I was on Reverb today and emailed a seller listing a 2017 Emerald X20 Opus. We agreed on a price and I sent the offer. He emailed back that he couldn’t ship the guitar for a month! I was blown away. What a hoser!

That really stinks. I cannot understand what some people are thinking when they post something for sale like that - if they are not scammers, of course.

I think that it is more of a bad Reverb experience than anything to do with a carbon fiber guitar, however.

Not sure what to say. I once posted a CL ad, forgetting that I was leaving for two weeks of vacation shortly thereafter. Lots of annoyed calls. Oops.....
In Idaho, a shop has to hold a used instrument for three weeks to make sure there is a chance to retrieve it, just in case it is stolen.

There is some ambiguity here.

Makes you wonder if he even has it yet. Sorry for your disappointment, I'm a big Emerald fan.

Yeah, I have to go with that, too. The fact that the guitar is carbon fiber has nothing to do with the seller being a flake.

Hope the OP is able to become an X20 owner - dealing with Sean at Emerald has been a satisfying experience for me.

I would check Reverb policies. I have bought and sold items there and recall that shipping was required within 3 days.

In any case, you can rate the seller.

Reverb is generally a great place to transact music deals, but with many individual sellers, you're going to get a variety of experiences.

if it hasnt shipped and you dont want to wait, request a refund. Technically seller should have listed there would be a delay in shipping so easy argument with Reverb buyer protection.

I told the seller to cancel the deal - no money had changed hands. I was unaware that Reverb mandates three day shipping.
To my disbelief the guitar is still listed on Reverb. Not for nothing but I smell a scam.

Haven’t looked on Reverb yet, but does the seller list photos of the supposed actual guitar?

I ask because I’m trying to avoid potential Reverb problems with another instrument, from a seller with 1listing and no feedback.

If the guitar is the one I think it is, the seller has previously posted in this group.

Before ordering my guitar from Emerald I made an offer on the Opus. Admittedly, I started low but I was prepared to increase my offer. However, the seller stated he had little to no room to negotiate, so I contacted Sean and received my X-20 shortly afterwards. IIRC, the seller increased his listing price after our exchange.

I contacted Reverb about the seller of the 2017 Emerald X20 Opus guitar that stiffed me on a purchase. I was pleased to find that they removed the ad from their site.

Did he give a reason for the delay?

Things like this also affect your relationship and ability to bond to the guitar itself.
